Fire
At 24,815 acres and 22% containment, the French Fire saw
continued growth on the southwest portion and minor growth
to the northeast. Dry fuels and hot, dry, unstable conditions
remain, supporting active fire growth. Heat remains along the
perimeter of the fire and firefighters have been cleaning up
spot fires as they come up.
Smoke
Smoke, haze, and hot, dry conditions remain. Light winds will
keep smoke lingering in the area with the greatest
concentrations in those communities closest to the fire. Light,
terrain driven winds will be present over the fire area and
smoke conditions similar to yesterday can be expected. Smoke
will range from Moderate to Unhealthy levels at times for all
areas. Gusty winds are expected around 2pm.
Monitors
Lodgepole, Bodfish, and Ridgecrest data comes from Purple Air
Sensors. For more information, visit fire.airnow.gov
