With Inyo County now in the Yellow Tier of the state’s Blueprint – Least restrictions category, Dr. James Richardson, the Public Health Officer has rescinded his previous mask requirement mandate issued last year. So, basically, no masks under certain circumstances. Remember that the COVID-19 pandemic is not over and there will be circumstances where you should continue to wear a mask if needed or required.

INYO COUNTY, CA, May 26, 2021 –Effective today, the Inyo County Public Health Officer has rescinded a previously issued Health Order requiring members of the public and workers to wear face-coverings and requiring businesses and indoor facilities to take certain related actions. The original local Order was issued May 8, 2020 and revised July 13, 2020.

As California prepares to move beyond the Blueprint for a Safer Economy on June 15, limited safety measures will remain in effect and California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and CalOSHA face mask requirements are expected to change in future weeks.  With the recension of the local Health Officer Order, Inyo County will continue to be subject to the current statewide order which includes the following guidance:

• For fully vaccinated persons, face coverings are not required outdoors except when attending crowded outdoor events, such as live performances, parades, fairs, festivals, sports events, or other similar settings.
• For unvaccinated persons, face coverings are required outdoors any time physical distancing cannot be maintained, including when attending crowded outdoor events, such as live performances, parades, fairs, festivals, sports events, or other similar settings.
• In indoor settings outside of one’s home, including public transportation, face coverings continue to be required regardless of vaccination status, except as outlined in the Exemptions section of the CDPH Guidance for the Use of Face Coverings.
