If you are fully vaccinated, you will no longer be required to wear a mask outdoors in certain situations says the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on announced Tuesday, May 11, 2021.
CDC Director Rochelle Walensky announced during a news conference that today is another day we can take a step back to the normalcy of before,” “There are many situations where fully vaccinated people do not need to wear a mask, particularly if they are outdoors.”
“I am optimistic people will use this information to take personal responsibility to protect themselves and protect others,” she added.
Walensky said that all Americans, regardless of their vaccination status, should still wear masks when in crowded outdoor settings like sports games as well as in several indoor situations.
To be clear, masks will still be required when using public transportation whether you have a vaccination or not.
The U.S. still has more than 50,000 cases of Covid-19 being recorded a day and wearing a mask indoors will still provide extra protection.
So far, about 54% of Americans 18 and older have received at least one dose of a vaccine, and 37% have been fully vaccinated, says the CDC, with more than 230 million doses administered.

Let’s say the CDC is right – finally. Vaccinated people no longer need to wear masks or indoors except in certain “crowded” situations such as airplanes and other public transport.
Which therefore means that the vaccines – still approved only for “emergency use” by the FDA – simply are not as fail-safe as some would have it, at least not in “crowded” situations. That’s the only way to read this. Can’t have it both ways.
