Inyo’s Public Works Director Mike Errante cleared up the mystery of the bi-plane at the corner of Poleta Roads near Laws at last Tuesday’s Supervisors’ meeting.
The bi-plane had to make an emergency landing October 22. It was towed to the intersection and, apparently, decided to stay put. And stay-put it may stay.
The owner lives in Alaska and is currently in Mexico. When contacted, he said the plane now belongs to an insurance company. The bi-plane is tall and wide, confounding the problem of towing it. At its current location, it has become a tourist attraction.
