Such a sad thing. 8:54…would’ve been almost dark, sun might’ve been in the drivers eyes as they headed west. I have to guess that Gary was walking on the south side of the road from the venue and attempted to cross main street to get to Mountain to continue his walk home to pinecrest st. I know he wouldn’t walk in the lane and the shoulder is plenty big enough there.
Drivers don’t seem to realize that a crosswalk exists at all intersections, marked or not. If he crossed at the intersection, then he was in a crosswalk. Traffic legally must yield. of course its hard to yield if you haven’t seen the person.
It’s just so frustrating, to lose a person like Gary, who loved living in Mammoth and doing the mammoth thing, hiking, biking, skiing and working his business.
