The Inyo Sheriff’s Department and Inyo County Coroner are investigating skeletal remains discovered last Friday in a remote area of Inyo County west of Pahrump.

Authorities did not say who found the remains. The Sheriff’s Department did say work is underway to establish the identity of the remains and the cause of death.
