For a couple of weeks in a row, the Mammoth Town Council held special meetings to either in part of in total “consider evaluation of a public employee: Town Manager.”
Mayor Rick Wood and Town Manager Marianna Marysheva-Martinez offered some very brief comment. When asked about the closed session evaluations, Mayor Wood said no action was reported out of those sessions. He said the next Council meeting is scheduled for September 4th and that’s all he has.
To rumors that she might be leaving Mammoth, Manager Martinez said she is “very happy in Mammoth, and there are still plenty of challenges to keep me busy (and engaged!) for years.” She said her current contract goes through June 30, 2014.
As for closed sessions focusing on her, Martinez said, “Yes, my evaluation has been on the agenda, and I was told that the discussions have been about the extension of my contract.” The Town Manager said she had been on vacation since July 29 and is not fully up to date on everything going on, particularly in closed sessions.

The Town Council would be foolish to get rid of Mariana now that the ship is finally righting itself. Who, of any worth, would step in if they fired the second manager in 6 months? But the Council is known for foolish decisions, above all!
