Mammoth High School to Celebrate New Student-Created Mural
MAMMOTH LAKES, Calif. — The Mono County Office of Education (MCOE) invites the community and members of the media to celebrate a new mural at Mammoth High School on Tuesday, August 25, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.
The Student Mural Mentorship Project, led by the Mono County Office of Education in partnership with Mammoth Unified School District and local artist Dave Titus, brought Titus together with Mammoth High School student apprentices to create a new mural for the school. MCOE coordinated the project and provided materials, Mammoth High School provided the mural space, and Titus volunteered his time and expertise to mentor students from design through installation.
Working alongside Titus, students gained hands-on experience in mural-making while helping create a lasting piece of art that reflects creativity, collaboration, and school pride at Mammoth High School.
Titus has dedicated hundreds of volunteer hours to local schools and youth programs during nearly three decades of community involvement. He currently serves on the Mono County Board of Education and continues to support the development of arts education throughout the community.
The celebration will include remarks from participants, a live mural signing, music performed by Mammoth High School student musicians, and refreshments prepared and served by students in the Mammoth High School Culinary Arts program.
