I’ve always believed that the stories we tell shape the future we create.

For the past five years, River Queen Provisions and the River Queen Holdings Opportunity Zone Fund have been my attempt to help shape a different story about Bishop and the Eastern Sierra. Despite hard work, significant personal sacrifice, meaningful progress, and steadfast community support, the financing ultimately never came together in a sustainable way to bring that vision to life.

While there is certainly disappointment in this outcome, gratitude has become the feeling that remains.

I’m deeply grateful to the community leaders, friends, family, investors, collaborators, and supporters who believed in this vision long before there were public gatherings, completed plans, or a finished project to point to. Your encouragement, trust, wisdom, and generosity carried me farther than you know.

While River Queen ultimately wasn’t realized under my stewardship, I don’t measure its value solely by its outcome. We sparked important conversations about the future of Bishop and the Eastern Sierra, brought remarkable people together, challenged assumptions about what is possible, and planted seeds that I believe will continue to grow.

At its heart, River Queen was never just about restoring a historic building. It was about storytelling—an invitation for the community to imagine a future rooted in its history while embracing new possibilities. It was about honoring the land, celebrating local culture, supporting entrepreneurs, creating beautiful places for people to gather and be nourished, and demonstrating that preservation and progress can move hand in hand.

It was also an opportunity to pioneer a different model for rural economic development. Through the Opportunity Zone Fund, my hope was not simply to attract outside capital, but to create an opportunity for the community to invest in itself—to build local ownership, long-term stewardship, and shared prosperity.

River Queen was guided by a simple question: What becomes possible when a community invests in itself—not only financially, but with its creativity, trust, relationships, and shared vision? I continue to believe resilient communities are built from the inside out by people willing to steward the places they call home. Communities that choose possibility, stewardship, creativity, collaboration, and abundance begin building solutions together.

This journey asked more of me than I ever imagined. It stretched me, humbled me, and transformed me. It taught me resilience, discernment, perseverance, and so much more. Those lessons are gifts I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

River Queen reflected what I care deeply about. My work has never been just about buildings. It has always been about creating beautiful and authentic visuals, spaces, and experiences that foster deeper understanding and connection—to one another, to the land, and to the unique spirit of a community. That purpose endures.

My stewardship of River Queen has come to an end, but the vision doesn’t have to.

Although River Queen won’t be realized under my leadership, I leave knowing that what began as an idea has become a thoroughly explored, carefully tested, and genuinely viable opportunity for the next steward.

The building, project, and Opportunity Zone Fund are now available for purchase. Over the past five years, countless hours of research, financial modeling, design, engineering, due diligence, fundraising, community engagement, branding, and partnership building have laid a strong foundation. Together, they represent a thoughtfully developed, place-based business model rooted in the unique history, culture, landscape, and economic realities of the Eastern Sierra.

My sincere hope is that the next steward carries this work forward with care, creativity, and deep respect for this unique place.

My prayer for Bishop and the Eastern Sierra is that it continues telling a story of courage, stewardship, collaboration, and abundance. May this extraordinary place remain wild and beautiful while creating opportunities for future generations to live, work, create, and belong. May the land be cared for, local businesses flourish, regenerative agriculture take root, a resilient and sovereign local food system and economy emerge, and may neighbors continue finding common ground in service of something greater than themselves.

I leave this chapter with a full heart, deep gratitude, and excitement for the next adventure. Thank you to everyone who walked this journey with me. This community has given me far more than I could ever give in return. I’ll always be grateful.
