🎣 RUSTY’S FISHING REPORT
Where they’re biting this week!
Lower Owens River: Fish early or late—daytime temps are in the 90s. Streamers around sunrise & sunset are producing bigger trout. Evening caddis hatches happening regularly. Mosquitoes are heavy early & late.
Upper Owens River: Water is low and clear and trout are spooky. Nymphing is productive. Small streamers work deeper holes & cut banks during the first & last hour of legal fishing time.
Hot Creek: Caddis & trico action is underway by about 8 AM. Use small dry flies and make careful, drag-free presentations—fish are spooky!
Crowley Lake: Fishing is improving daily and fish are moving shallower, including inlet channels around McGee & North Arm. Fish in less than 20 feet. Surface temps in the low 70s. Trout feeding on perch fry, damselflies & midges.
💡 Rusty’s Tip of the Week: “The early mule gets the trout!” Summer heat is here. Hit the water early and make the most of the cooler morning bite.
⚠️ Don’t Move a Mussel! Mandatory inspections are required for trailered watercraft on Inyo & Mono County waters. Get inspected & get your Eastern Sierra mussel sticker before launching.
