🥎 Bishop Broncos Fall in Hard-Fought Playoff Battle

The #15 Bishop Broncos traveled to face #2 Exeter this past Thursday, 5/14, for a high-stakes first-round CIF matchup. While the final score was 9-15 in favor of Exeter, the stats tell a story of a team that fought until the very last out.

In an impressive display of offense, Bishop actually out-hit the #2 seed 13 to 10. The Broncos showed incredible grit, especially after losing senior starting shortstop Katya Fierro to an injury in the 1st inning. Sophomore Avery McGraw stepped up and filled the gap seamlessly.

🌟 Offensive Standouts

• The Powerhouse: 1st Baseman Tannyr Ludwick was unstoppable, going 4-for-4 (2 singles, a double, and a triple) with a massive 6 RBIs, a stolen base, and a run scored.

• Multi-Hit Games:

  • Ginger Lowden: 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored.

  • Faye Spoonhunter: 2-for-3 with an RBI and 2 runs scored.

  • Avery McGraw: 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored.

• Contitributors: Cambrie Lanphear and Ellie Boyd both added hits to the 13-hit total, while Braydee Momberg used a sacrifice bunt and hustle to reach on an error and score.

🥎 On the Mound

Sadie Mairs started the game, pitching 5.2 gritty innings with 3 strikeouts. While Exeter capitalized on walks, Sadie only allowed 4 earned runs. Ginger Lowden came in for relief, facing 6 batters to close out the game.
