INYO COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION

​Regular Meeting of the Board of Trustees Minutes- April 9, 2026 166 Grandview Drive, Bishop CA

​I. PRELIMINARY ACTION

​Call to Order- This meeting was called to order at 1:22 p.m.

Roll Call/Quorum- Present- George Lozito, Joe Profita, David Hefner, Chris Langley, and Jessica Tex

Approval of the Agenda- G.Lozito moved to approve, seconded by J.Profita. Motion carried 5-0.

​II. PUBLIC COMMENT SESSION

​There were no questions submitted via email by members of the public prior to the meeting, and there were no comments from the public during the meeting.

​III. PRESENTATION

​Farm @ School- The Board members, Barry Simpson, and Randy Cook met before the meeting at the Bishop Elementary campus to tour the Farm @ School site.

​Jay Seidel, Fullerton College Drone Lab, via zoom- Jay Seidel, Director of Fullerton College Drone Lab, presented about possible collaboration with the Inyo County Office of Education to develop a drone-piloting certification program through the California Conservation Corps (CCC) and to explore the potential of establishing a post-secondary/private sector drone research and development presence at the Bishop Airport.

​IV. ACTION SESSION

​Approve the Consent Agenda- March 12, 2026 Meeting Minutes- J. Tex moved, seconded by J.Profita. Motion carried 5-0.

​Business Approve Resolution 2026-02 Authorized Agent Status- D. Hefner moved to approve, seconded by G.Lozito. Motion carried 5-0.

Approve Resolution 2026-03 Transfers of Appropriations for 2026/27- G.Lozito moved to approve, seconded by J.Profita. Motion carried 5-0.

Approve Resolution 2026-04 Transfer to Permit Payment- J.Profita moved to approve, seconded by G.Lozito. Motion carried 5-0.

Approve Renewal Petition for YouthBuild Charter School of California for a 5 Year Term Commencing July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2031- J.Tex moved to approve, seconded by D.Hefner. Motion carried 5-0.

​V. OPEN ITEMS

​Upcoming school visits with Barry Simpson and the Board on April 16 and 17. Mr. Simpson and the Board plan to visit Owens Valley schools and Lone Pine schools on Thursday, April 16. Bishop High, Round Valley school, and Palisade Glacier school on Friday, April 17.

​Upcoming events- 5th Grade College and Career Day is on April 24. The Adult Education Scholarship Fundraiser is scheduled for May 16. Capitol Advisors May Revise and Luncheon is scheduled for June 8.

​The Indian Creek Water District and the Inyo County Office of Education are revising their MOU. Discussions will continue regarding a potential solar project between ICWD and ICOE.

​VI. ADJOURNMENT
