Area Forecast Discussion
Owens Valley / Mammoth Lakes / Mono County / Death Valley
Dennis Mattinson / Sierra Atmospheric Forecaster

Synopsis – FRI APR 10 2026

Today and this weekend’s weather will be brought to you courtesy of a low pressure system in the EPAC, getting absorbed by a longwave trough from the Gulf of Alaska (GLA). The colder storm from the GLA should cause snow levels to drop to 6,500 – 7,000 feet by Saturday / Sunday. We are now looking at 10 – 15 inches of new snow over Mammoth Main by Monday AM. These back to back systems should create windy conditions especially along the Crest. Bishop and the Owens Valley should see a ~30% chance of showers Saturday and a ~50% chance on Sunday…DMATT
