Carla Darlene Brooks (Foster)

Carla Darlene Brooks passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, in Bishop, CA, after complications from pneumonia. She was 86 years old.

Carla was born on June 21, 1939, to Marien and Lemuel Foster in Alhambra, CA. She lived in Arcadia and graduated from Rosemead High School in 1956. Shortly after graduation, she married George Brooks. She began raising her family of five boys in Arcadia while working at JCPenney. In 1976, Carla moved her family to Bishop, CA, where she continued working at JCPenney and later retired as a manager in 2000.

Carla loved working in her yard and planting flowers throughout her garden. She also had a special place in her heart for animals and often took in stray cats. Another of Carla’s passions was her cross-stitch projects, as well as the handmade knitted blankets she created.

Carla is survived by her sons, Joel & Alisa Brooks; Randal Brooks; Richard Brooks; Michael Brooks; and Daniel & Lily Brooks; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Carla was preceded in death by her parents, Marien and Lemuel Foster; her brothers, Dean & Ann Foster and Don & Donna Foster; her granddaughter, Naomi Brooks; and her great-grandsons, Kelly Brooks, Owen Brooks, and Callum Brooks.

The family has chosen not to hold funeral services at this time and will have a private celebration of life later this summer.
