Bishop Union Track & Field traveled to the Desert Christian Eastside Invitational in Palmdale, competing in a large meet with 22 teams, including Lancaster, Granite Hills, Quartz Hill, Adelanto, Paraclete, and several HDL league schools. The Broncos had an outstanding day, recording 32 personal bests.
In the boys varsity 100 meters, sophomore Hunter Dailey re-broke his sophomore record with a time of 11.83.
In the girls JV 100 meters, freshman Charlotte Haverstock placed 3rd in 13.76, breaking the freshman school record. Freshman Ellie Solomon also ran well, placing 9th in 14.24.
In the boys JV 200 meters, freshman Oscar Henriquez broke the freshman school record with a time of 25.74. In the girls JV 200 meters, Charlotte Haverstock placed 3rd and broke another freshman school record with a time of 29.43.
In the girls JV 400 meters, freshman Ellie O’Neill placed 7th in 1:12.17.
In the girls JV shot put, freshman Charlotte Haverstock placed 3rd with a throw of 24’3.5″. In the girls JV discus, freshman Mia Peek placed 2nd with a throw of 68’1″, breaking the freshman school record. Sophomore Isabela Alarcon placed 9th with a throw of 50’1″. In the boys varsity discus, senior Tavian Davis placed 10th with a throw of 103’3″.
In the boys varsity long jump, sophomore Hunter Dailey placed 7th with a jump of 19’5.5″, re-breaking his sophomore record. He also placed 3rd in the boys varsity triple jump, breaking his sophomore record again with a jump of 40’0″.
In the boys JV high jump, Bishop had three placers: sophomore Brandon Walters was 5th at 5’0″, freshman Cosmo Schwartz was 6th at 4’10”, and sophomore Tosa Schultz was 7th at 4’10”. In the girls varsity high jump, junior Amaya Hays placed 7th with a jump of 3’10”. In the girls JV high jump, freshman Ellie Solomon placed 2nd and broke the freshman school record with a jump of 4’8″.
In the boys JV long jump, freshman Oscar Henriquez placed 7th with a jump of 15’10”, while freshman Kevin Freeman placed 10th with a jump of 15’5″.
Overall, it was a great meet for the Broncos and one we will definitely return to in the future. Our next meet will be Wednesday, March 25th—our first league dual—at Edwards Air Force Base against Desert, Boron, and Trona.
