Bishop Union Prepares for High-Stakes Rematch Against Boron.

The Bishop Union Broncos (4-3) are looking to extend their dominance over the Boron Bobcats (5-3) this Wednesday, March 18th, at 3:15 p.m. Historically, the Broncos have held a perfect 10-0 record in this series, and they head into this home game with significant momentum, having increased their run total in each of their last three outings.

Broncos Coming Off Dominant Shutout

Bishop Union’s confidence is high following a 10-0 masterclass against Legacy Christian Academy last Friday. The victory was defined by elite performances on both sides of the ball:

• Ben Kemp’s Career Day: Kemp set a new career-high with 3 hits, while adding 4 RBI, 3 stolen bases, and a run. On the mound, he was equally untouchable, pitching two innings without allowing a hit or an earned run. He has now maintained a streak of three appearances allowing one hit or fewer.

• Offensive Support: Reuben Nicholson had his most productive game since April 2025, tallying 3 runs, 2 RBI, and a double. Mike Trejo contributed as well, going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

• Statistical Edge: The Broncos showcased incredible plate discipline, finishing with a team OBP of .559, completely stifling Legacy Christian Academy, who managed only a .059 OBP.

Boron Looks to Bounce Back

The Bobcats saw their four-game winning streak snapped on Saturday in a 9-2 loss to University Prep. Despite the season-low scoring output, a few players stood out:

• Geordyn Rundblade: Remained a bright spot, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles.

• Andrew Gartica: Contributed a double, a run, and an RBI.

Series Outlook

The last time these two teams met in May 2025, Bishop Union secured a comfortable 9-3 win. While Boron currently holds a slightly better overall record this season, they face the daunting task of breaking a long-standing losing streak against a Broncos squad that seems to be finding its rhythm at the plate and on the mound.

Key Player Matchups

• The Power Hitters: * Geordyn Rundblade (Boron): Currently leading the Bobcats with a massive .667 batting average and an .833 OBP. He’s coming off a perfect 2-for-2 performance against University Prep.

• Will Kemp (Bishop): Leading the Broncos with a .500 average and a 1.056 slugging percentage. He remains their biggest deep-ball threat.

• On the Mound:

• Bishop’s Knox Moffett has been steady with a 2.62 ERA, while Boron’s pitching staff is looking to bounce back after a tough 9–2 loss to University Prep that snapped their four-game win streak.

The “10-0” Factor

One of the most significant stats hanging over this game is Bishop Union’s recent dominance. The Broncos have won 10 consecutive games against Boron dating back to May 2021. Their last meeting in May 2025 ended in a 9–3 victory for Bishop.

Boron is entering this game with a much higher scoring average (14.8 runs/game), but Bishop’s disciplined defense and history in this matchup make them the team to beat.
