  • After stating that the City had no funds for repairs to the Bishop Visitors Center A-frame building at the park and claiming they might not even have funds for it’s demolition, the City Council has suddenly “found” money to the tune of 158,325 for the park. What are they spending this money on? They want to give the Wood Rogers company the money to prepare a “Park Master Plan”. HOLD ON A MINUTE!!! This is the same company that they asked to do an “independent” engineer inspection and report on the A-Frame building. This seems to be a huge conflict of interest, that a company hired for inspection on the building red tags it and states in their report comments like, it looks as if the building has reached the “end of it’s service life” and then they SUDDENLY RECEIVE A CONTRACT TO MAKE PLANS FOR THE PROPERTY! Once again we are left in the dark on what those plans for the park might be. The fact that we do know, is that the City isn’t planning to do what the Community has stated that it wants, to SAVE, REPAIR, and MAINTAIN, Bishop Visitors Center A-frame. We wish the Bishop Visitors Center building to remain as the local landmark that it has been to our town for over half a century. We wish our Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center to return to their rightful home.Image 1 scaled
