January 28, 2024. Officer Kemps strikes again!! At approximately 1245 hours, Bridgeport Area units were advised to be on the lookout for a white Ford Mustang which was reported to be speeding and weaving across northbound US 395. A Bridgeport Area sergeant observed the Mustang on northbound US 395 south of SR-167. The sergeant on southbound US 395 had to wait briefly for traffic to safely make a U-turn to conduct an enforcement stop on the Mustang. The driver of the Mustang took advantage of that brief delay and turned east on SR-167. The driver drove a short distance on SR-167 before stopping and taking foot-bail into an open brush covered field. Multiple CHP Bridgeport units, CHP helicopter- H-40, and Mono County Sheriff’s units established a perimeter and safely located the suspect. After further investigation, Officer Kemps placed the driver in custody for DUI, driving on a suspended license, and resisting/delaying an officer in the performance of their duty. The suspect was booked into the Mono County jail and his Mustang was impounded.
