Entering Inyo National Forest Wikipedia 2 Small

Join us next summer as we complete exciting work on the Inyo National Forest and help us spread the word – this is a great way to become familiar with opportunities to join the Federal Service!

The Forest anticipates hiring approximately 145 temporary (1039 hours) positions for next year’s field season with anticipated start dates as early as April 9 and as late as June 4, 2023. The positions listed in the attached document will go live on USAJobs this Thursday, September 29. Applications must be submitted by October 6, 8:59 p.m. (PST).

A wide variety of trails, maintenance, natural resources, visitor information and fire positions are available. These temporary positions are located at various offices and stations throughout the forest, but when applying for the location of your choice, be sure to choose one or more of the following locations: Lee Vining, Mammoth Lakes, Bishop and Lone Pine, CA.

Located in California’s beautiful Eastern Sierra in Inyo and Mono counties, the Inyo National Forest is the east gateway to Yosemite and the west gateway to Death Valley. Clean air, crystal blue skies, mountain lakes and streams, challenging trails, high mountain peaks and beautiful views – what more could you ask for? Inyo County has the lowest and the highest points in the continental United States. With over two million acres, the Inyo National Forest is home to many natural wonders including Mt. Whitney, Mono Lake, Mammoth Lakes Basin and the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest. More than 800,000 acres are in nine Congressionally designated Wilderness Areas. Diverse geologic features, combined with the elevation, produce a wide range of climatic conditions resulting in tremendous floristic diversity on the Forest, with vegetation communities ranging from desert scrub, sagebrush scrub and Pinyon woodland, to Jeffrey Pine, Lodgepole pine and alpine habitats.

Join the INF family and apply for a seasonal job with the Inyo National Forest!
