In November of last year, Mammoth Hospital CEO Gary Boyd was reported by staff to have suffered a stroke. He has been on a leave of absence since then and now has resigned. Hospital Board Chair Helen Shepherd issued this statement:
“The Southern Mono Healthcare Board of Directors announces the resignation of Chief Executive Officer Gary Boyd. Mr. Boyd stated he has enjoyed the opportunity to serve the District and the community. He will miss working with the wonderful staff of Mammoth Hospital employees and physicians. No reasons for the resignation were stated. The Board is grateful to Mr. Boyd for his services to the District and appreciates all he has accomplished for the Hospital since he joined the Hospital in 2008.
Mr. Boyd had been on a leave of absence since November 2012. During that time, former Chief Executive Officer Gary Myers has been serving as the interim CEO. In light of the departure of Mr. Boyd and the success Mr. Myers has had in his interim position, the Board has offered Mr. Myers the opportunity to stay on as CEO. Mr. Myers has accepted the position.”

That’s a shame. I met Boyd he really seemed like a great Man. Too young a man for a stroke in my eyes.
I hope he is doing well.
Be well GB
